Cedar Park parents arrested when baby is discovered with severe bodily injuries

AUSTIN – Two parents were arrested on injury to a child charges after their baby suffered severe injuries in early July.

The Cedar Park Police Department detailed that on July 6, the child was taken to Dell Children’s Hospital by EMS.

The parents reportedly told police a story that was inconsistent with the extent of the injuries.

CPPD stated that doctors at the hospital discovered multiple hemorrhages and bleeding in the brain, strokes, seizures, retinal hemorrhages in both eyes, and bruising in the chest, abdomen, hip, and tongue.

The parents, identified as Lee Alan Woodard, 21, and Alexis Joan Basques, 21, were arrested on Friday, July 26. The couple was charged with Injury to a Child Causing Serious Bodily Injury and are being held of a $150,000 bond.

The case is still under investigation by the Cedar Park Police Department and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
