New law passes requiring breastfeeding areas to be available at federal buildings

AUSTIN – A new law was signed by President Donald Trump requiring all federal buildings to provide breastfeeding stations by 2021.

Named the Fairness for Breastfeeding Mothers Act, the law requires all federal facilities to begin setting up private stations for breastfeeding employees and visitors that have a chair, a working surface, an electrical outlet, and must be free from intrusion.

Federal buildings that are not able to repurpose a room or make a private space using portable materials or at a reasonable cost are exempt from this new law.
