NEW BRAUNFELS – On Monday, August 5th, around 9:40 p.m., the New Braunfels Police Department received a call to respond to the 2900 block of Town Center Drive in the Creekside shopping center for the report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 20-year-old male victim from San Antonio. He had been taken by numerous friends from the scene to Resolute Hospital with stab wounds to the stomach.
Officers located the victim with his friends at Resolute Hospital, after some investigation, officers were able to identify the attacker and location in Schertz, TX. NBPD investigators reached out to the Schertz Police Department to assist in locating and detaining the suspect at his home at the 500 block of Exchange Ave. in Schertz.
The suspect was sent back to New Braunfels while NBPD continued with their investigation, and he was placed under arrest. According to the New Braunfels Police Department, Jared Grey Herrington, age 21, of Schertz, was transported to the Comal County Jail and apparently charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and with Tampering with Evidence. Herrington remains in custody and bond has not yet been set.
New Braunfels PD investigation led them to evidence to show the stabbing was not a random attack, but an occurrence over a mutual love interest. The victim was transported via EMS to the San Antonio Military Medical Center, he currently remains in stable condition. The investigation is ongoing and there is no other information at this time.
