Margarita "Rita" Martinez & Genaro Fuentes | Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commision

MISSION – A mother and son have been indicted on multiple human trafficking charges, along with sexual assault charges as a result of a year-long investigation into the suspects.

The suspects, who were identified as Rita’s Sports Bar owner Margarita “Rita” Martinez, 61, and Genaro Fuentes, 36, were arrested on July 31, according to the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission.

TABC said the investigation into the mother and son began after receiving a tip regarding young Hispanic females allegedly being forced to work in the bar before being trafficked and exposed to sexual assaults.

Martinez was indicted by a grand jury on charges of human trafficking, 15 counts of aggravated sexual assault, 14 counts of sexual assault of a child and one count of manufacturing and delivering a controlled substance, stated court records.

Records show that Fuentes was indicted for aggravated sexual assault and sexual assault of a child.

The investigation into this case is ongoing at this time.
