Elijah Phillips | Austin Police Department

AUSTIN – Police in Austin are still looking for the 3-week-old baby who went missing from the hospital only three days after being delivered.

The infant, identified as Elijah Phillips, was last seen on July 22 after the baby’s mother, Brittany Smith, checked into the hospital and delivered him on July 19.

According to authorities, Smith gave permission for her baby to leave the hospital with a family member three days after he was born. The individual who left with the baby is Brittany’s cousin, Brandy Yovonne Galbert, stated police.

An investigation was conducted by Child Protective Services who received a court order to remove the child from Smith’s care, added officials.

Police stated that Smith, Galbert, and the baby’s father, Carl Dennis Haden, have not been located but police believe they may be in the Austin or Killeen area.

CPS and police investigators are concerned about the child’s safety and are asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of Elijah Phillips to contact 9-1-1 immediately or the North Austin Detectives at 512-974-5484 or call Crime Stoppers at 512-472-TIPS.
