Man found dead following alleged attempt to cross border near Brewster County
BREWSTER COUNTY – An investigation is currently underway after authorities discovered a deceased male who allegedly attempted to illegally enter the country, according to the Brewster County Sheriff’s Office.
Brewster County deputies, along with US Border Patrol agents searched the area on July 25 after information was received that someone had passed away during their attempt to cross into the country.
The search began on foot with ATV then by aircraft until the body was recovered.
The body was discovered in what was described by BCSO as an extremely remote area of Southeast Brewster County on Friday evening, July 26.
“The family of the individual has been notified, and our thoughts and prayers are with them during this time,” said BCSO.
The individual’s cause of death is still being determined and the incident is under investigation.
