GILLESPIE COUNTY – A Stonewall man was arrested in Gillespie County on Monday afternoon in connection to a drug-related incident at a residence located in the 200 block of Cemetary Road.
The Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office reported that at approximately 10:50 a.m., deputies responded to the residence with Child Protective Services (CPS) to perform a welfare check on the child.
After deputies and CPS were permitted to enter the residence from the child’s mother and the 40-year-old man, GCSO stated that deputies discovered drug paraphernalia in plain sight.
As deputies began searching the residence upon receiving permission, several illegal drugs were located including 23 grams of methamphetamine and 25 grams of cocaine, along with a handgun.
The male individual was arrested and transported to Gillespie County Jail where he was booked on two separate charges of Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance PG 1 >= 4 Grams < 200 Grams, a 1st-degree felony.
According to Gillespie County jail records, the man was identified as Jose Andres Romero.
An investigation into the welfare of the child is being headed by CPS.
