HIDALGO COUNTY — A homicide investigation is underway after Sheriff deputies discovered a dead body of an adult male with gunshot wounds.
The victim, 23-year-old Fernando Garza, was reported to the Sheriff’s Office for a welfare check Thursday.
Authorities say they identified a burned vehicle that belonged to the victim Friday.
Fernando Garza’s body was found Saturday morning near Mile 13 and Iowa Road, about halfway between McAllen and Harlingen in Hidalgo County.
Two suspects have been identified and are currently being detained, according to Sheriff Eddie Guerra’s Twitter page.
