HARRIS COUNTY — A woman has been arrested after crashing into a residence while intoxicated with her two children in the vehicle on Saturday, October 5.

Sources with Constable Mark Herman’s Office say officers responded to reports of a driver hitting a residence at the 5500 block of Birchgate Drive.

Deputies reportedly saw the driver, identified as Janet Perez, attempting to flee the scene once they arrived at the location.

Officers who detained Perez say she exhibited several signs of intoxication.

Sources say upon further investigation officers discovered Perez’s two children, ages six and 10, unsecured in the vehicle.

Police administered Standardized Field Sobriety Tests which allegedly revealed the suspect was driving while intoxicated.

Perez was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail where she was Charged with Driving while Intoxicated with Child Passengers.

Her bond has been set at $1,000.

The children have been reportedly released to a family member who arrived at the scene of the arrest.
