BOERNE – Officials in the Boerne Police Department accounted on Wednesday, August 7th, that residents living in the Boerne, Fair Oaks Ranch and Kendall County areas will now be able to text 911 for help.
Officials stated that the ability to text 911 will allow those who need help to communicate with emergency dispatchers in situations where it is unsafe to call. Some situations include medical emergencies, home invasions, abductions, or domestic violence situations.
Officials warn, however texting 911 does not include your location to emergency dispatchers, so it is stressed if those who use the texting service must include their location. The police department also states that calling 911 is always the fastest and efficient way to receive help in an emergency.
