Convicted sex offender accused of secretly filming teenage family member in the bathroom

CONVERSE, Texas — A convicted sex offender is behind bars after being accused of video recording a family member in the bathroom of the residence that they shared.
Jon Eric, Gilliland, 54, a registered sex offender, is facing two charges being Invasive Video Recording and Failure to Register as a Sex Offender Annually.
The victim reported to police that she heard a beeping sound in the restroom of their residence while she was talking to her friend on the phone. They had both heard the noise. She followed the noise and found a portable small remote camera hidden in a shelf in the restroom.
According to an affidavit, the victim said the camera was set up to view the entire bathroom, including the shower, sink, and toilet.
The victim then removed the SD card from the camera and put it back on the shelf and moved out of the residence without confronting the Defendant.
Upon viewing the contents on the SD card, she found videos of herself both partially and completely naked coming from the shower, using the bathroom and changing her clothes.
She also told police that the Defendant had named the video segments of her on the SD card names inappropriate names depending on what the defendant captured while filming.
When the victim told another family member about the contents of the SD card, they reported the Invasive Video Recording to police, who then arrested and charged Gilliland subsequently.
Gilliland also had his address listed as Haven for Hope in San Antonio and failed to provide his address in Converse to police, so he was also charged with Failure to Register as a Sex Offender Annually.
Gilliland remains in the Bexar County Jail with a bond amount of $20,000 for each charge.
