Bexar County detention deputy indicted on Terroristic Threat after allegedly threatening to shoot up bar

BEXAR COUNTY — A Bexar County detention deputy turned himself into the Cadena Reeves Justice Center Wednesday after being indicted for Terroristic Threat-(placing) Public in Fear Serious Bodily Injury, a 3rd Degree Felony, from a 2018 incident at a bar.
Bexar County Sheriff’s Deputy Edmundo Renteria, 29, allegedly had a verbal argument at a bar. “The security guard at the establishment tried to escort Renteria out, however, he returned back to the bar and threatened to shoot it up,” stated a BCSO press release.
Renteria has been employed with BSCO since 2014 but was placed on administrative leave following the December incident.
He will now be served with a notice of purposed termination, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
A separate but concurrent administrative investigation into the incident has been started by BCSO Internal Affairs, pending further criminal investigation by the San Antonio Police Department.
No bond has been set in Renteria’s case at this time.
