LAREDO – Six undocumented immigrants were apprehended when a joint enforcement action was conducted by the Laredo Sector Border Patrol and Homeland Security Investigations (HIS) on an alleged human smuggling stash house operation.
Agents received information regarding suspected undocumented immigrants being harbored at a residence on Cortez Street in Laredo on Monday, August 5 at approximately 10:00 p.m.
As agents arrived, CBP stated that six undocumented immigrants were discovered within the residence.
It was learned during an immigration inspection that the individuals were citizens of Guatemala, Mexico, and Honduras and were in the United States illegally, said CBP.
After being found in good health, all of the subjects were processed accordingly.
CBP added that human smugglers are utilizing Laredo homes and businesses as a staging point for undocumented immigrants which is causing problems to the area’s residents.
